Dear Reenactor,
The staff at Pennypacker Mills has already begun to plan
for the 2010 Civil War Reunion and your participation is
the key component to our successful event. We hope you will
encourage other reenactment organizations to consider participating
too. Please mark your calendars for Saturday, June 5 &
6, 2010 for Pennypacker Mill’s Civil War Reunion.
You are welcome to share the event website with your members
as a way to enlist participation and then download the registration
form and mail it to us with your check. Please be sure to
distribute all the rules and regulations to your unit members
and have them also print out, sign and bring with them the
Participant Waiver. It is your responsibility to make sure
that they are aware of our rules. There are two rules which
we’d like to highlight this year.

|
- Please leave your pets at home.
- Please leave your firewood at home and use the firewood
that we offer for free. Ash borers, Asian long-horned
beetles and gypsy moths lay eggs in the bark and wood
of trees and when brought onsite, can infect our healthy
trees.
We are planning another exciting event and hope you and
your unit will participate this year. It is the participation
of outstanding military & artillery units, authentic
living history groups, great speakers, interesting sutlers,
memorable music, and family oriented activities that make
this event such a wonderful experience for our visitors.
Please encourage as many members to attend as possible.
We know many of you do outstanding interpretation and we
hope you will be willing to share those talents as a scheduled
activity on this weekend. Please indicate on your registration
forms what your particular demonstration will be, and we
will be sure to include it in our event program.
One of the most popular programs at this event is the
Lantern Tours which we offer on Saturday evening. Many visitors
remark that the nighttime added to the intimacy of the experience
and really gave them a sense of the people who lived through
the war. Please consider helping us with either a first
person interpretation or as a lantern guide. The numbers
of visitors wanting to participate has grown substantially
and your help is needed more than ever! Any questions or
suggestions, please give us a call.
Another wonderful program we offer is our Civil War School
Day and this year it will be held on Friday, June 4th. Middle
School students from across the Delaware Valley attend this
fantastic program each year and your help is needed to make
it a success. See information on the Civil War School Day
web page. The reenactor registration fee is waived for those
that participate for the School Day program.
Thank you for your continued participation and enthusiasm
for our Civil War event. You bring it to life for our visitors
each year and we can’t thank you enough!
Sincerely,
Linda S. Callegari
