Becks Philadelphia Brigade Band

In May 1861, four members of this band enlisted in the 20th PVI for 90 days. Upon returning to Philadelphia, they enlisted in the 28th PVI as the regiment band. In 1863, they reenlisted and formed behind the brigade at Cemetery Ridge at Gettysburg on July 3, 1863. When General Winfield Scott Hancock called on the band to play, they rendered the Star Spangled Banner.

Today, the Becks Philadelphia Brigade Band plays at events and keeps the memory of the boys of '65 alive! The band performs the same military and social music that was played to entertain the troops, console loved ones who lost family members or welcome home weary soldiers during the Civil War.
